Official google.org Blog: Be Part of Improving Google Person Finder

Official google.org Blog: Be Part of Improving Google Person Finder

Would like to suggest that this be tied to an ongoing disaster "missing children" and "missing persons". Not part of a disaster, but it seems like a worthwile inclusion.

2013-04-17 CHROMEBOOK demonstrates an interesting flaw

Google services are supposed to be blocked.

Opps, but they work.

Other blocked services are; just not Google.

Interesting.

That means to me that CHORME, or the CHROMEBOOK, is doing something unexpected.

Very interesting to me.

2013-03MAR-11 Will surplus the CHROMEBOX

It just doesn't suit the need.

And, keeping the CHROMEBOOK is shakey as well.

Needs better extensions and webservices to be useful.

YMMV!

2013-02-15 CROMEBOOK versus IPAD

FOr everyone who gripes about the CROMEBOOK / CHROMEBOX being worthless without a hot inet connection, IPAD suffers worse.

Last night went to use my IPAD at a bar and found no wifi. Left my MIFI in the car.

Used it as an experiment on what I could do without the inet.

Answer: Not Much of value.

Guess I could have wrote the great american novel part two, but I've been blocked for a while.

So, I went and got it.

So everytime you hear the "no inet" negative, just say same as IPAD.

FWIW!

2013-01JAN-05 Maybe the answer

Buy the cheapest Apple OSX box -- refurb (that gives me MARSEDIT, SCRIVNER, and TEXTER),

AND

the cheapest WINDOZE 8 box I can find (that gives me Office).

Hmmm, that's about 1500 as opposed to almost 3k to buy snazzy MACBOOKPRO.

Or just limp along with lots of platform.

Argh!

No easy answers.

2013-04JAN-04 Vik suggests Ubuntu

An excellent suggestion for the out of support balky MACBOOKAIR.

Doesn't get me the MACOSX software I've gotten used to: MARSEDIT, SCRIVNER, and TEXTER.

But it does salvage the box from the no-zip sorting bin.

Still leaves me stuck.

Do I buy another OSX box. MACBOOKAIR or MACBOOKPRO. And, do I really want to buy ANOTHER ticket on the Apple express to obsolesence.

Argh!?

2013-01-03 Maybe I've got to admit my mistake

I was trying to find an alternative to the unsupported problem-plagued MACBOOKAIR.

I am a refugee from Microsoft rotting OPS.

Doesn't look like CHROMEBOX or CHROMEBOOK will fill my need.

I like SCRIVNER, MARSEDIT, and TEXTEXPANDER on the MACBOOKAIR.

So, revisiting my options:

(1) Sometype of APPLE box (Not happy with the planned obselence); or

(2) Sometype of WINDOZE box with OFFICE. (Hate to get back on that treadmill again.)

Argh!
